Holidays

Holiday menus for vegetarians can be hard, and I’ve slowly found a few things that my family really likes and company loves, too. But we don’t often have company if we are at home, since we moved out west and everyone is back east. We’ve moved around too much to find ourselves with an adopted extended family.

The calendar is slowly flipping by, and holidays are wheeling around. We already had Christmas, and I wrote that meal up at the time on the old blog. You can find the Vegetable Pot Pie and Browned Brussels Sprouts recipes on this site.

St. Patrick’s Day came and went this year with me in a food funk. I didn’t cook for anyone for a week. Something came over me, I don’t know what it was.

I had no idea, but I missed (am missing today, as it happens) a grand opportunity for April Fool’s Day food. But maybe not, a lot of the jokes involve meat (and sound pretty wretched.)

Spring bounty in Santa Clara Valley: orange blossoms, Calla lilies, and jasmine from my yard, and Bonnie Doon Framboise from the other side of the hill.

Easter, though, is another thing entirely. I’m writing it up at the moment (as of 4/1/10) and will update it during the next day or so, including the dessert. Photos will be posted after the meal is made.
